More lessons learned about coworking
Last week we outgrew our coworking location so switched to a large coffee shop in town that has what we thought would have the necessities: free wifi, table, chair, coffee. Wrong! Coworking Tuesday was a mess today. Here’s what I think went wrong:
-Angel wasn’t there for the whole day so we had new and seasoned coworkers wandering around with no way to find one another and how awkward is it to go up to the 10 people on laptops and say, “are you my coworker?” People look at you funny when you say that.
-As Julie so expertly put it, “we’re just back at a coffee shop, isn’t this a little regression?” Yes, Julie, it was!
-The background noise of the coffee shop wasn’t helpful. Background noise from your coworkers is awesome, from strangers is just annoying.
Some good came out of our whacked out day:
-Met a couple new folks interested in joining our coworking group which is always exciting.
-Met @lindsayogden who came over to Cohere to keep me company while I waited for Comcast. Before I knew it, she was working away on her laptop! So cool. A bit later, @shirjoycreative popped in and sat with us. People-we were literally crammed in a fairly small room that is packed with Ikea furniture. Luckily we had all the fixings to set up shop and began coworking anyway! I love it. Just proves once again that cool people just want to work together—-no matter what it looks like.
-Cohere has internet. As soon as I get the router up, we’ll be in full business to cowork whenever we want!
